Dye Project

I want to do a 3 plat head band but with 2 pieces of wool in each plat. I am going to do two plats one blue one red and one plain. I made this by soaking my 100% pure plated wool in salt and water. For 10min then take the wool out, put the wool in a dye colour that you like. Put the wool on a  plait to dye then for this to fully dry it should take about 3 days. I have changed my idear because my measure ment is wrong now I am going to make a head band but just with red and pink/purple plated wool.

Then I have more wool so I am going to use the blue wool with a plain plait.(the blue is plated as well) 

The blue wool with a plain plait is going to be a bracelet. I did not use my plain that much but I did stick to the plaiting idear.

Iris's Ukulele part 3

In this episode Iris really wants to get in the talent contest which will be held at the local Mall. Iris really really wants to go but the problem is that, she is grounded. Iris is going to try and tidy up her room. She starts by putting her dirty clothes in a washing basket. Her clean clothes go into a draw and then she is going to vacuum the floor in her room. She is going to try and act like she is doing this with not wanting to do it. She goes down stairs to help her mum with dinner. Then her mum says her granny is going to take her shopping this Saturday. Iris says she has heard of a talent show plus first prize is 100$💰.  She ask her mum if she can sign the permission form for the competition. Then she stops and says yes. Then they stop at the music shop and Iris sees the purple ukulele she really wants. Then when she is leaving she sees her music teacher. He says "are you entering the talent show?" Iris says "yes". Iris's music teachers said to her that he will try and make the show.

Dear Editor...

I think that the amazing Cat Video Festival returning to America is very good but I hope that it gets enough votes in  Minnesota and New York. I vote for the cat video festival to return. I think this would be good because it is very funny. I hope that  maybe one year it might come to Palmerston North. I wonder if the cat video festival attracts a lot of people maybe over 10,000 people.  I would have wanted to be one of those lucky people invited to the the Cat Video Festival but I can not because I am in Palmerston North.

Jelly Bean Dye

I think that the jelly bean Is going to stay purple for about two mins. (We used ten jelly beans) Then the colour is going to go into the water. Then the jelly beans are going to go clear.

I see that the colour is slowly going into the water. The jelly beans are turning clear and the water is going purple.

I think jelly beans might turn a bit more purple and the water might be more purple. Then the colour well die down. The cotton well turn very light purple the get darker.

 

I see that the water has turned way darker the cotton   is just the siltiest purple turning dark very slowly. The jelly beans are still yellow. 

I think that when Rosie washes the calico that the colour will not fade.

I see that the Cotten has faded heaps there for the mordant or the dye did not work❗

 Steam Train Ride

There was a steam train ride last weekend on the Feilding Steam Rail Club's steam trains  which had been given newly restored engines. The rides were a good way for the club to run in their restored engines . The rides were between Feilding and Palmerston North and return. 

I think that it was a very good way of getting people together like my mum who saw her friend that worked Palmerston North Hospital. 

I saw a teacher from my school called Nick he is a very kind teacher. I saw one of the drivers who is Ag's husband  and he let me sit in the front. This is cool because I got to sit in the drivers seat. I could feel the heat radiating off the large fire box that powers the engine.The ride was so fun that it went by so fast. It was 27 mins there and 28 mins back. 

Plus it was $12 per person I thought this is a fun but cheap way to end the weekend.

Dye Writing

Dye, is very cool but if you get it in a wrong spot well you      have a fun time getting it out. Dye can be made out of          almost any grown food. Dye can do so much, it can be in       cooking,clothes,and in your hair plus art thats so cool did you know that?                                                                                 

Then we did the experiment again. This time we got a group of 6 people and got to watch it even closer.                            

                                                                                           

First off you need to get 2 onion skins in a pot (moderate size)  with a bit of water. (Just enough to cover the onion skin) Wait until the water comes to the boil. Sift the water out of the onion skin. Put the water back in the pot to the boil then put the calico in (By now the water should be looking a bit like golden syrup). Put some calico in the dye to see if it is actually dye.                    

Then leave the calico to dry then come back to it when it is  dry. See if the calico has been dyed. The calico should be     looking a bit brown+faint gold there you go now you have     dye. (If you want your kitchen smelling like fish and chips       just do the same process but with beetroot)                                                                                       

Homework

A poor 92👈 year old British women has had her false teeth stolen by a very 

hungry and cheeky seagull. She just took her teeth out while she had something to eat and turned around to find the seagull swooping down and stole the false teeth. The seagull was flying  off thinking what do these taste like❗Luckily the teeth were found and given a good wash before they were handed back. They were put back to good use but would you put them in your mouth? I would not of used them if they were mine because they would be dirty.

At lunch Iris let Sydney sit next to her, even though he was in her bad book because she wanted to hear what he had to say. But as soon as Sydney goes to open his mouth a basketball hits him straight on the side of the head. Then Shay says it’s just an accident.  Iris says “you better get out of here Shay”. Shay says “who's gonna make me”. Then a teacher comes and says is everything alright. Iris says “yes it is all good thanks”. Then Iris says what was that you wanted to say. So Sydney says there is a competition and the 1st place price is $100. What is it for?. A talent show. Then they chose different plays because they had an argument. Sydney is doing a glam rock opera and Iris is going to do her vampire rap. They are both doing their plays by them self. Then Iris does not do the act because she does not want to do the play by herself. Iris hopes that by tomorrow Sydney has forgotten all about there silly little argument.

The very first thing that Iriss would do if she was president would be to cancel Monday mornings. Iriss is a girl at home who hates monday mornings, especially one Monday. She loves her ukelele and just wants to practice on it. She hates putting her dishes up on the bench and stays in her bedroom all the time. Her favourite friend is called Sydney Smithson. They have been working on a story about some vampires who fight a lot plus a pack of wolves. Iriss can not wait to show Sydney what she has done. Then they go raging through Iriss’s mums makeup. Then Iriss’s mum finds out, they just say they are practicing for there vampire act. Then when they are at the music lesson, Elijah goes to sit down next door to Iriss then Sydney plonked her big fat butt right down in front of him then Elijah scratches his head and moves. Morgan has a big look on her face like her eyes are going to pop out.

6x8 is not the hardest times table to learn. It rimes even 6x8 is 48, besides they have only 

tested it on one village in the UK. I think that they should test it on more schools. That could of been one village that did not know that, besides other schools could of kwon that question easily. They might be under pressure so they did not do as good as they usually would.

My Holiday

My Holiday 

During my holiday my father and I drove down to Wellington to catch our aeroplane to Brisbane. While we were waiting for our plane, the wait got even longer than four whole boring hours. The reason is the plane was flying in temperatures below 50-. Then there was a rain storm which had sleet in it as well.

(Sleet is a mixture of rain and snow) 

Then with the wings being cold ice formed on the wings.

Then the crew Ground Crew had  to come and deice our plane using special 

Chemicals. The captain told everyone that it was nothing to be afraid of and safety was their number one priority. This took about half an hour.

When we were taking off I could not wait. On the aeroplane me and my dad felt heaps of turbulence. 

(There are many different causes of turbulence that can affect the plane.

One kind of turbulence is called mechanical. This is caused by wind flow that blows over the hills which causes unstable air flow. So when the plane hits the unstable air it causes the plane to bump. The other kind of turbulence is weather related, this is most likely to be in a storm cloud due to unstable air.

The final kind of turbulence is altitude related.This means when a jet plane reaches cruise altitude. There is a place in the sky called the jet stream . The turbulence is caused by very strong winds. The jet stream surrounded by The Stratosphere and The Troposphere winds are very strong and pressure changes may cause turbulence) 

  I would say our flight was fairly smooth.

Then our plane landed you could see a puff of smoke.

When I was driving back to my family I could not wait to see them. That night I did not get any sleep. Then one day I got a big surprise my dad said that if I went to bed early we might get to go to dream world . So I did, then that morning I woke up then I heard my dad say "come on Callum get ready we're going to Movie World" .I was so excited! That was such a long drive. When we got there I was going bonkers to go on a ride. But first we went to a bakery and we had chicken  rolls. I thought that it was nice but my dad did not think it was so good. The fastest ride at Movie World was called Superman.The roller coaster went 100k per hour in 2 seconds. It had a force of 4.2 positive and 1 negative G force. My dad got sick on a Scooby Doo ride. I went on a Batman ride. It just shot you up in the air really fast. There was this other ride that had to be the worse yet. It's called The Asylum. It hanged you upside down for ages and did heaps of spirals. This other one was the most frightening. There was a massive line where you went down backwards and I was at the back. I got soaking wet!

At the airport and on the plane I saw someone from my class called Jack.

Then my flight ended and I went back home. I liked it better in Australia when it was warm.
